Extended Stay Housing Versus Hotel Stays

There is a common misconception that long-term housing is more expensive than a hotel stay while working away from home. Yet, having accommodations that are more like home will save you and your company money. An example of this is eating out. When you are confined to a hotel room, you have to eat all your meals out. This can add up quickly. If you are staying in long-term accommodations that has a complete kitchen, you can grocery shop and cook “at home”. The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking pans and utensils.

A comfortable living space can ease tension and stress while working away from home. Having a living room that doesn’t double as your bedroom will provide you a relaxing place to unwind. The home like atmosphere can defuse the stresses of a crazy day. Enjoy the peace and quiet since you’re not staying in a hotel with paper-thin walls and kids running up and down the halls.

Long term housing also provides great amenities that we have come to take for granted such as having a private mailbox and a dedicated phone line.  Do you have a small pet? Extended stay housing units will usually let you bring your pet too. Hotels are really designed just to meet your short-term needs when on the road, but long-term housing is your home away from home. When you are traveling on business for an extended time, consider confirming a long-term apartment so that you can focus on work and relax during your down time.

Can the Extended Stay America Hotels forward mail to your hotel room?

I will be staying at the Extended Stay America Hotel in Orange, CA and I was wondering if I can have the mail thats being sent to my house forwarded to my hotel room during the times I will be staying at the Extended Stay.

Yes. Just go to the Post Office and file a Temporary Change of Address form. The hotel will generally slip mail under your door, or call you.

I stayed at one in Chicago for over a year.
